Get to know the pile-dwellings!An activity of the Holiday Pass of Biel/Bienne
2018ArchaeoConcept participated in the Holiday Pass of the city of Biel/Bienne in summer 2018 with a bilingual animation on the theme of pile dwellings. The children had the opportunity to discover underwater archaeology and pile-dwelling sites through the example of Sutz-Lattrigen, visible from the diving base of the Archaeological Service of the Canton of Berne. After a brief introduction to the different chronological periods, they made a prehistoric snack based on bread baked on a wood fire. Finally, the children had the opportunity to take a ride on the Xiphia monoxyle canoe from the New Museum Biel (NMB) and to make typical Iron Age ornaments, namely fibulae and small bracelets, on the basis of the archaeological documentation at their disposal.
